How does Indian Railways dispose of used oil compliantly?
Under Hazardous Waste Rules 2016, Railway divisions must transfer used oil only to a CPCB-authorized recycler. Disposal tenders are floated on IREPS (ireps.gov.in) and GeM. BIOCIL participates in these tenders and provides all required authorization documents.
Can a Railway Divisional Officer contact BIOCIL directly?
Yes. For planned disposal, Divisional officers can contact us directly before floating a tender for a preliminary assessment, quote, and capability document. We can attend vendor qualification meetings.
What is the minimum volume BIOCIL collects from a Railway location?
There is no minimum. For smaller divisional offices, we coordinate combined pickup when multiple locations in the same zone have accumulated oil. For Workshops and sheds generating 10,000L+, we send direct dedicated tankers.
Does BIOCIL handle Railway transformer oil with PCB traces?
Old Railway transformers (pre-2003) may contain PCB traces. We assess each consignment. PCB-contaminated oil requires separate handling protocols — contact us and we advise on compliant disposal under HW Rules 2016 Schedule III.
